The game fails to make the open-world intriguing and fun to explore.Īnd going back to the 'flat lighting' thing, the game's ugliness and jank just doesn't feel intentional this time. empty? The usual stuff from POSTAL 2 like every house being explorable and sometimes containing useful items are there, but the much more flat lighting compared to 2 and the houses basically being large neighborhoods that have the exact same house structure makes exploration a chore. I don't mind a bigger world, especially when traditional open-world mechanics like vehicles and quick travel stations are there to make travelling more convenient, but it just feels. The open world doesn't do itself any favors either. Tl dr I definitely don't recommend the game to be played on any objectively hard difficulty. What doesn't help is that the wanted meter doesn't go away when you respawn after death, so you die, load your last save and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of cops immediately starting firing hot lead into you. Even running away requires you to be extremely lucky, since just like P2, hostile NPCs barely miss their shots. The new wanted system where you can have a horde of cops attacking you (basically like a 5 star in GTA) makes engaging in combat completely pointless with how slow the guns themselves are.

John's awesome performance prevents me from hating the whole experience.Ģ's combat already required the player to take it rather slow for the most part, especially on harder difficulties where 2 hostile NPCs alone could quickly drain your health, but 4 just amps that up to 11. I can appreciate and see the effort, and Jon St. But I just can't recommend POSTAL 4 in good faith. Easily one of the greatest pieces of satire I've played in my life.
